Privacy Policy – Neuron-1

Neuron-1 (“Neuron-1”, “we”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through compliance with this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you use the Neuron-1 mobile application (the “App”), and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

1. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through:

  • The Neuron-1 mobile application
  • Related services, features, and communications

It does not apply to information collected offline or by third parties not controlled by us.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you use Neuron-1, you may provide us with your:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Account identifiers
  • Authentication provider (Apple or Google)

User authentication is handled securely through Firebase Authentication.

2.2 Device Data

Neuron-1 connects to compatible neurofeedback devices using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).

During use, the App may collect:

  • Electrophysiological data generated during sessions
  • Session timestamps and configuration details
  • Device connection and status information

Data is collected solely to provide the App’s functionality and is not used for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes.

2.3 Automatically Collected Information

When you use the App, we may automatically collect:

  • App usage data
  • Crash reports
  • Performance and diagnostic data
  • Device and operating system information (non-advertising identifiers)

This data helps us improve performance, reliability, and user experience.

2.4 Stored Content

Neuron-1 may store:

  • User session files
  • User-generated or processed session data

This data is securely stored using Firebase Storage and is accessible only to the authenticated user.

2.5 Photos & Media Access

With your permission, the App may access your Photo Library to:

  • Save session exports or user-generated content

This permission is optional and can be managed through your device settings.

2.6 Location Information

Neuron-1 does not collect, track, or store location data.

However, iOS may require Location (When in Use) permission because Bluetooth scanning requires it at the operating system level. Location data is not accessed or retained by Neuron-1.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Authenticate and manage user accounts
  • Enable device connectivity
  • Process and store session data
  • Provide and maintain App functionality
  • Improve performance and reliability
  • Respond to support inquiries

4. Legal Bases for Processing

We process personal data based on:

  • Your consent
  • Performance of a contract (providing the App)
  • Legitimate interests such as security, functionality, and service improvement

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

We may share information only with:

  • Firebase services (Authentication and Storage) for secure operation of the App

We do not share data with advertisers, marketing networks, or data brokers.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal and electrophysiological data only for as long as:

  • Your account remains active, or
  • It is necessary to provide the App’s services

7. Data Deletion and User Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data

Instructions for requesting deletion are available in the settings page of the Neuron-1 mobile application. Once deleted, data cannot be recovered.

8. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission
  • Secure cloud storage
  • Access control mechanisms

While no system is completely secure, we use industry-standard protections.

9. Children’s Privacy

Neuron-1 is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. U.S. Privacy Rights (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal data we collect
  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Confirm that we do not sell personal data
